The following list of program directories and descriptions was taken from Study Abroad 101.

GoAbroad.com - A busy website with an online database of international programs and travel tools/ resources. It allows you to search for jobs, internships, volunteer opportunities, and much more. Study abroad programs are searchable by country, subject, and term.

Iagora.com - If you're looking for student reviews on various aspects of a study abroad program, this is the place to go. It also lists entry-level jobs abroad for recent graduates who wish to return overseas.

IIEPassport.org - An online database of study abroad programs searchable by country, subject, and language. It is one of the best online directories for pinpointing programs. Personally, it is my favorite because of its simplicity and vastness.

IIE Passport: Academic Year Abroad and IIE Passport: Short-Term Study Abroad - These directories are similar to iiepassport.org, but include more comprehensive information listing over 6000 study abroad programs offered by accredited U.S. and foreign institutions. These directories are best used for finding programs and are very easy to navigatge. Most study abroad offices have these directories on hand, but they can also be purchased through IIE.

International Handbook of Universities - First published in 1959, this handbook is a good resource when looking for accredited colleges and universities around the world. It provides data on 8,300 higher education institutions, including structure, course of study, and degrees. It is published every two years and is available at most study abroad offices.

Peterson's Search for Study Abroad Programs - A complete online directory of more than 1800 overseas programs at over 350 institutions in the U.S. and around the world. They also publish a book called Study Abroad [Year]. It includes academic programs, volunteer work, internships, financial aid, health and safety, and travel opportunities. It is not expensive for a 950-page book.

StudyAbroad.com - An eye-catching website that offers a nice database of study abroad programs with various search options. This site also has plenty of resources and tools, including a Parents Guide to Study Abroad: www.studyabroad.com/parents-guide.

Study Abroad 2000+ - A 640-page trilingual guide to study abroad opportunities and scholarships, published by UNESCO. Best of all, this English-Spanish-French guide is free.

Transitions Abroad - A web portal with plenty of resources and excellent magazines for students planning to study abroad. It also has an online directory of study abroad programs.
